I’ll be recording a LOT more videos — and here’s why…!

TRANSCRIPTION:

I just realized that you could actually do a Facebook Live directly from your laptop or your desktop. I had always been using a cell phone to do a lot of my Facebook Live things. So, I learned something maybe about two years too late! Anyway, as you can see in the video above, I am doing Facebook Live on my desktop.

The reason I’m making this post is because this past weekend, you might have seen some previous posts, I was out in Kansas City at the Vision Conference and I was actually an exhibitor there where we were giving away a lot of car count audits. When I was out there, I was pleasantly surprised, actually, I was more shocked to see how many people came up to me and said they’re seeing my videos.

Now, I started recording probably about a year and a half ago, just started recording videos and getting them up online, and I’ve been seeing a lot of traction over the time, but I guess it kind of caught me off guard because it’s been a long time since I’ve talked about the value of doing video and, especially, I’ll be talking a little bit more about the value of doing Facebook Lives just like this. But there’s a lot of people that came up to me and shook my hand. I had some people taking their picture with me, sort of like I was this quasi-celebrity, I guess the next Kardashian, right? I’m a YouTube sensation!

In all seriousness, it was great to see how doing these videos really lets everybody know what my personality is. They all felt like they knew me so when they walked up to me, they started talking to me not from a guarded standpoint, but more of an old friend standpoint. And it’s all because of watching the videos that I’ve been doing for about maybe a year and a half or so. I’ve got the series called Car Count Daily, which, If you want to get a daily dose of marketing as well as mindset as well as getting your business to the next level, I put that video series together specifically for that. However, that’s not really why I’m telling you about this. I’m telling you about this because I think everybody should be doing video. It’s probably the best thing you could be doing right now.

I know shop owners might be a little scared to be in front of a video camera or think that they’re really going to screw things up royally. Look, I get it. I’ve been doing this for quite a while, and in the very beginning I had those same fears about doing video, and here I am doing a live video. So if I royally screw up, you get to watch it and start over, I just want to press on you how important it is to do videos and also give you access to a free five-part series on how to use video that I did probably a year and half ago.

Now, you might be thinking: “What the heck? I’m just a shop owner. What can I be recording a video or doing a Facebook Live about?”

Well, I go through a very simple exercise with you, I believe on video number three, where I show you how to create about 50 different subject titles of these little quick one, two, three, four-minute videos where you can let your expertise shine, you’re talking about something that you now a lot about and, I’ll tell you, when you’re talking about something you know a lot about, it’s a whole lot easier to do a video because you’re just talking like you’re talking to one of your customers.

Don’t underestimate how valuable videos can be to you. You should get in the habit of doing one video a day. It only takes about five minutes to shoot a three-minute video and just get it up online. And I show you exactly how to do that. I show you the equipment to use, I show you what to talk about, I show you how to get it up online where everybody else can see.

See, this is the thing about live video. I’m teaching you how to record video so if you do screw up, there’s this big red button on there that you just click and it just deletes the video. Going live like this is a little bit different but, again, you’re going to see a lot more of these videos. My goal is to do these on a daily basis in the Successful Shop Owner Facebook Group because I think it’s really important. There’s a lot of great information I can give you and if anything, if it clicks an idea, if it gets an idea flowing in your mind, then fantastic. You can use that in your business every single day too to go forward. But for right now, I want to put the bug in your ear.

And if you’ve used video in the past, I’d love to hear what it’s done for your business. A lot of our clients are starting to use video on a weekly basis, some of them on a two or three times a week, and they’re really getting a lot of traction with their clientele because you’re no longer that annoying pest, you’re more of an invited guest. And people, they feel like they know you when they see your videos all the time and maybe that’s what you’re seeing from me if you’re one of the people that’ve been watching my Car Count Daily videos for a while. You probably feel like you know me and you know my personality and you’re seeing I’m not trying to hammer, “Buy my stuff,” all the time. It’s just giving you some really good, valuable information.

But, again, there is that button on here when you get finished recording a video. You can watch it. Actually, I wouldn’t have you watch it because we’re our biggest critics, and we’re going to hate watching ourself on video, we’re going to hate listening to our voice. Have somebody else critique it and look, if it comes out, if it’s okay, just get it out there. That’s the amazing thing about video is it could be deleted if you don’t like it, it could be put up online. If people are laughing at you, you can also then delete it again.

But, again, you may think there’s anything that you can talk about and, let me tell you, if I gave you one simple little subject, I guarantee you can give me three to five to maybe twenty minutes of conversation or instruction or information that you have in that vast stores of knowledge in your brain. And you’ll be able to put together a really kick-butt video that’s going to impress the hell out of all of your current customers as well as your future prospects, and that’s really what this is all about.

I get it, getting in front of the camera scares you but, you know what? Just do it anyway. We always have to step outside our comfort zone on a continual basis if we want to grow. We have to keep stretching and stretching and stretching a little bit if you want to get to that next level, and I’m going to tell you without a doubt video is not the next new thing. It’s been the biggest new thing out for several years. That’s why I’ve been talking about it for so long.
